Our Story
Nepal is known throughout the world for its glorious Himalayas, scenic beauty, flora, fauna, and a range of exquisite homemade aromatic teas. Nepal constitutes only 0.1% of the total area of the world. In 1842, a Chinese emperor had presented precious gifts of an exquisite variety of tea seeds to the then Prime minister of Nepal. With the vision of putting Nepal on the global map for recognition as one of the best tea-producing countries in the world, Colonel Thapa started tea plantations in the eastern districts of Nepal in 1843.
Guranse Tea is more than just a simple beverage. The taste is one of peace, comfort, and refinement. Appealing to everyone it can be taken either strongly or light to one's personal preference. Properly prepared, it offers tea drinkers an experience akin to no other drink.
Who Are We
Guranse Tea Estate brings to you an exquisite 100% organic tea from the verdant hills of Eastern Nepal called Hile, Dhankuta. The Estate, located at an altitude between 3300 and 7300 feet above sea level, is a perfect stopover for visitors who like to sip fragrant orthodox tea and feast their eyes on the abundant greenery of the rolling hills Nepal has to offer. It is probably the highest tea garden in the world producing premium organic quality tea. These hills provide just the right combination of sun, shade, and rain conducive to the production of the wholesome goodness of Guranse Tea with its rich 'muscatel' flavor incomparable to any other tea.
Guranse Tea Estate has planted pure young and vibrant clonal plants all selected to make high quality teas. At Guranse we believe in only giving you the best, therefore, your tea goes through a series of careful processes before it is packed and finally ends up in your cup for an entirely new experience of health and vitality.
Guranse is IMO organic and ISO 22000 certified. 95 % of the workers are women and the Company pays for several of the workers ' children's education and pays for the salary of teachers at the village school.
The Company supports an old people's home that is nearby, by providing meals, rations, blankets etc.
